What These Posts Are
The High Court of Judicature at Allahabad is recruiting for three administrative and technical posts:
Review Officer (RO) — senior administrative work: managing case files, official correspondence, coordinating between court registries, drafting official notes. You're essentially the backbone of the court's administrative functioning.
Assistant Review Officer (ARO) — supports the Review Officer. Similar work but at an entry/junior level, with more file processing, drafting, and document tracking.
Computer Assistant (CA) — IT support role: managing the court's computer systems, assisting with digital case management, data entry, and maintenance of software used by court staff.
With 2,023 vacancies, this is a large-scale recruitment. The Allahabad High Court is one of the largest high courts in the world by case volume, so these aren't lightweight jobs — you'll be working in a busy, legally-significant environment.
Posting is at Prayagraj (main seat) or Lucknow (bench), with transfers between the two possible during service.

What the Syllabus Tests
General Hindi carries the most marks across both Prelims and Mains — and for good reason. Court administrative work involves drafting, filing, and correspondence in Hindi. Expect grammar (sandhi, samas, karak, alankar), vocabulary (muhavare, lokoktiyan, paryayvachi, vilom), comprehension, and official letter/note writing style.
General Knowledge for a High Court post skews toward legal and constitutional awareness. Articles 124–147 of the Constitution (the judiciary chapter — Supreme Court, High Courts, appointment of judges, jurisdiction) appear regularly. Read the judiciary chapter carefully — this differentiates High Court exam preparation from a standard GK approach.
Computer Knowledge (CA post): Beyond MS Office basics, expect questions on DBMS, networking fundamentals, operating systems, data security, and for CA post specifically, basic programming concepts. The 60-mark technical section is where the CA selection is really decided.
Reasoning: Coding-decoding, blood relations, ranking, series, direction, syllogism, seating arrangements. Standard difficulty — focus on speed.

Preparation Tips
- Hindi is your biggest lever for rank. The High Court Mains gives Hindi 40 marks out of 100 for RO/ARO. Many candidates with otherwise similar scores are separated by Hindi paper quality. Invest in grammar practice and official note-writing style.
- Judicial GK is specific to this exam. Don't just prepare generic GK. Read the Constitution's Part V (Union Judiciary, Articles 124–147) and Part VI (High Courts, Articles 214–237) carefully. High Court recruitment papers consistently draw from this.
- Previous AHC papers from 2016 and 2021 are available online. Solve both sets under timed conditions — the question style is stable.
- Typing test reality: If the RO/ARO post includes a typing test, start Hindi typing practice (Mangal Inscript or Phonetic keyboard) well in advance. 25 WPM is the minimum, but clearing it comfortably means practising at 30+ WPM daily for 6–8 weeks.
Common Questions
Is there any interview? No. Selection is purely Prelims (screening) + Mains + Skill/Typing test (qualifying) + document verification.
Will I be posted only in Prayagraj? Postings are at Prayagraj and the Lucknow Bench. Transfers between the two happen in service.
Is Hindi typing in Mangal font or Kruti Dev? Allahabad High Court typically uses Mangal (Unicode). Practise on both fonts to be safe.
